Acts 14:1-27
This chapter gives evidence of the ugly nature and consequences of human religion. Starting in verse 2 the Luke uses the phrase "poisoned their minds" to refer to the response of some unbelieving Jews. After that some gentiles completely misunderstand the meaning of a miraculous healing, resulting in an attempt to offer sacrifice to Paul and Barnabas (as to Zeus and Hermes)... Before the day is over the "poisoned mind" men from Antioch/Iconium turn up and Paul is stoned!
Thankful before the day (chapter) is over order prevails when our friends appoint elders, once again demonstrating the vote, tradition, and mob rule aren't nearly as good as wisdom and discretion.
There is some apparent concern over the word used for Apostles in verse 4, the correct interpretation of which leads to Paul being better than Barnabas... They seemed fine to me. Go figure.
