Acts 27:1-27

The MDB notes the phrase "end with disaster" Vs 10 ... The point is no loss on me. What was wrong with Fair Havens? The temples weren't big enough? Not enough good debauchery? Oh yeah, lets jet, we can make a buck... (sigh) The text says Paul warned but the majority thought otherwise... Well I sure am glad they knew what was best for Paul, Luke, God's plan of the ages, oh yeah, and the whole shipping/sailing operation.

Acts 26:1-32

I'm very much encouraged that Paul starts out by asking for Agrippa's patience. Then Paul goes on to describe his days of persecuting the Church. Its not easy for the modern mind to imagine what he says next. In a court setting Paul tells of his "heavenly vision." In that day and setting it's hard to imagine what actually happened, if I said such a thing in an LA or Larimer county courtroom, the outcome might make me flinch, and would not likely be received as admissible testimony. Not much after this Festus does blurt out his own honest disbelief. I get the impression from the discussion between the judges that they liked Paul... In any event they knew he wasn't worthy of death. Not enough people are honest like that anymore.

Acts 14:28-18:28

I got caught up in the NT reading today... There's lots of good stuff here, but not much time to tell it... The OT is running badly behind... In these chapters, Paul encounters corrupt authority figures, the demon possessed girl, Aquila and Pricilla, and Lydia the seller of Purple, oh and don't forget the visit to Athens...

2nd Chronicles 9& 10

Solomon's reign seems all too short... by chapter 9 there are indications of decadence and bang! by the end of 10 Rehoboam, and Jeroboam are fighting and its all over...

Acts 14:1-27

This chapter gives evidence of the ugly nature and consequences of human religion. Starting in verse 2 the Luke uses the phrase "poisoned their minds" to refer to the response of some unbelieving Jews. After that some gentiles completely misunderstand the meaning of a miraculous healing, resulting in an attempt to offer sacrifice to Paul and Barnabas (as to Zeus and Hermes)... Before the day is over the "poisoned mind" men from Antioch/Iconium turn up and Paul is stoned!

Thankful before the day (chapter) is over order prevails when our friends appoint elders, once again demonstrating the vote, tradition, and mob rule aren't nearly as good as wisdom and discretion.

There is some apparent concern over the word used for Apostles in verse 4, the correct interpretation of which leads to Paul being better than Barnabas... They seemed fine to me. Go figure.

2nd Chronicles 7 & 8

It is surprising to me how quickly, shall I venture 'spontaneously' the people respond "For He is good, for His mercy endures forever." 2 chrn 7:3

2nd Chronicles 5 & 6

5:9&10... isn't something missing from the Ark here?
6:9... In the church I guess I'm not so choosy as Solomon got to be... Just somebody orthodox will do...

Chronicles 25:1 Prophecy is not necessarily predicting the future, or even speaking direct revelation. It is proclaiming truth... John MacArthur Daily Bible
